Whenever I have the habit of reading, researching and trying to find out what are the qualities of great men of success. Why? For very simple to learn and apply the principles in my way of doing business.
Bill Gates is one of those characters who is admired by many, hated by others and certainly imitated by few. But regardless of our feelings toward him, I think that the fact of being one of the richest men on the planet makes it worth listening to and learning about their way of doing business and how it took Microsoft to become the leading technology worldwide. Today I share with you 10 secrets that Gates will share with us about his success in an interview in my opinion.
1. “To a large extent it was that lived and breathed software, we stopped only to eat and sleep.” He works tirelessly, set your goal and struggle with determination to reach it. Do not settle for giving 100%, go further and who sets your limits.
2. “From the beginning we did not think of anything that was not succeed.” A vision is much more to write, you dream it, you yearn for is to believe fervently that can be achieved. Do not let nothing in the world that no one will steal your dreams.
3. “As we also became good business decisions, how to focus our first efforts on the Intel 8080 chip, but in those early days not seem so good” Be sure to make good decisions. Do not be guided by what people say or what others are doing. Analyze your options, get advice and learn from the experience to make the best decisions ever.
4. “Sometimes we promised our clients more than any other could offer really, but we could do, because we stayed awake even later, we worked even harder and began to beat back a challenge any deadline impossible.” Customer satisfaction and your commitment to honor the tender should be as strong as your desire to succeed. If you offer something, complete it at any price, as this will multiply your chances of reaching the top in business.
5. “We are committed to doing things that people thought were impossible.” Never let others tell you that something is possible only by the fact that they can not. Break your own barriers and one who states what can and what is not in your business.
6. “In the course of our history we have pulverized myth after myth about personal computers. At first, few people believed that the PC would become an unprecedented success, but we did the impossible to make it happen.” There are hundreds of stories of people who became “impossible” to “possible” only by the power of belief. Believe in yourself, believe in your team, believe in your company is essential and you will be the largest.
7. “We remain informal in our personal relationships and avoid the hierarchy where no sense. All could come into my office if you have a question or concern, an idea for a new product or ideas about what our competitors were doing.” Avoid bureaucracy in your organization. Eliminates cumbersome or unnecessary processes and especially promotes communication. Your employees should always feel free to talk with you openly.
8. “We did not care how they dressed or expertise programmers who had to run a meeting. All that mattered was to create amazing software. We felt that our excellence lay in our products, everything else was secondary.” Establish your own identity as a company. Decide what is important and focus clearly on it. Create a culture focused on product quality and services.
9. “We do everything possible to keep a lean and efficient structure, using our resources wisely and avoiding waste, unnecessary expenses as a first-class seats and expensive hotels.” Jealously guard your expenses. Maximize the intelligent use of resources and watch your profitability grows and grows.
10. “The most important aspect we have not changed is the following: We are hiring smart people. There is no substitute for that and not as easy as it sounds.” Something like Henry Ford said about always surround yourself with smart people and even “smarter” than you. That way you will be forming a winning team of collaborators.
And in conclusion I leave one sentence of Mr. Gates that elegantly summarizes lessons about success:
“Companies fail for many reasons. They are sometimes poorly managed, sometimes simply do not create products that customers want. But I think the biggest murderer of a company, especially in rapidly changing industries like ours, is the refusal to adapt to change. “
